redsunset
Hello, got my chooks end of May and all was going well apart frm one going 'missing' for 4-5 days and then found her on a nest of 15 eggs (broody?) Anyway lifted eggs + hen who has at this stage never grown comb or wattles like the rest and still looks like a baby? Broke my ankle 2 wks after getting my 1st ever chickens, so mum moved over. My question is the wee hen is still sleeping in the hedge where her nest was so when I am able to lift her what's the chances of her hen mates accepting her back in the hen house after several weeks? As the nights get darker, ok a bit later up in Highlands should I pop her in and close the pop hole and hope for the best? They do free range together through the day but Mrs Sussex sometimes bullies her? (4 isa brown, 1 bluebelle, one white sussex), she is a wee brown... many thanks for any suggestions....ankle getting stronger now and on my own again. Egluntyne
You will have to go back to square one and introduce her as if she was a new hen. Some advice here.
redsunset
Thank you, I guess it's back to square one as I suspected. Quietly hopeful.
redsunset
All that worry and chickens do what chickens do and surprise me! Little hen was back in house tonight as I lifted the lid of nest box and there she was nestled in beside the 'bully'??? All is well again
