mimi5
Hi all, just wondering what you all think. I have my cube and 3 metre run, which I happily trundel round the garden. My 3 adult pekins are in there at the mo. But want to add, either my 3 pekin grower hatchlings (once old enough) or 2 bantam araucana girls. Do I need the extra metre? Also how easy will the cube & run be to move around? I do let the pekins out to free range, but only when I'm home and always "around" pottering outside (I work 3 long days, so unless hubby lets them out they are in the run on those days) Thanks!!! daxigirl
That's loads of room for littlies. I've got 8 big girls in a 3m+ . My set up goes ext ext door divider ext ext ext there are then 2 side doors for access. I'm unable to move it about. Before though when it was 3m+ I could pull it in a straight line. mimi5
Thanks for the reply daxagirl!! I move mine around really easily and can even turn a circle!! Stops the lawn from getting too trashed!! Can't quite picture your set up.......do you have a photo?? Just don't want the winter time to be a problem, with them being confind to the run!!! I did have 5 pekins in there earlier in the year, but sadly lost 2 girls with different problems
daxigirl
I've only got a small garden so it has to stay put on wood/bark. Think of it as 2 cubes and runs pushed together but seperated (due to intros) with a small door panel there is then a large door panel in the side of each run. Don't have a picture. mimi5
Ok, I've thought about making mine static (the wooden coop & run is), but love them having fresh grass!! I don't have a very big garden, but have given the lawn section over to my pekins!!! Well they do a pretty good job of mowing it!! I asked about door(s )for the side of the cube, but omlet say there isn't one? Did you make yours?? Side dooors would be so useful!!! So do you think I don't need an extra metre? Also how many bantams would you say is ok as it is?? Thanks So much daxigirl!!
daxigirl
It's 2 normal door end panels put instead of side panels, they overlap a bit as they're wider and there's a little 2" gap at the top held together with wire. Sorry just had to stop Evil beating up Mavis, she keeps going in the nest box to watch and Evil no like. Works well, managed to get a 3rd door by putting a wanted ad on here. The girls get less access to the rest of garden now too as I wanted to reclaim it for me and the dogs.
daxigirl
So you'll have 7 in 3m and want another 2 or 3, if you can I'd go for the extra 1m, wont hurt any to have it. Definitely recommend getting another door panel, even if it's a small door type.
