karencopas
hi all, i have 3 hybrids bought together all the same age, 17 wks-ginger rogers a goldline, blackberry crumble a maran cuvree and lady penelope a speckledy They live together in a go with the 2 m run and free range daily. i would say they are happy hens and we've been getting 3 eggs a day for a good while now i'd say lady penenlope is a bit of a loner, the other 2 are usually together and follow each other when out in the garden. She's wary of us altho we treat them all the same and hand feed yummy treats to encourage them to trust us, she still won't take anything from our hands she waits till we throw it to her or nicks it off the other 2! anyway to get to my point i think lady pen is broody!! i've read the info on here and she is showing the signs!! is it something we've done or not done? luckily i have a dog crate so this morning i've lifted her out of the box and popped her in there but she seems very unsettled and is pacing around and looks a bit wobbly i've put the crate next to the run as i thougth may be nice for her to stll be close to the other 2? at night i thought i'd carry her into the garage so she is safe from mr fox. Shall i give her normal food with extra treats to try and cheer her up? will she eat now she's in the crate? am hoping as its a small space and not very comfty she'll eat as not a lot else to do!! also last thing can she free range with the others think i read to leave her in crate 24/7 for 3 days so may have answered my own question and def last thing will the ginger and crumble be affected by penny's broodiness? sorry for v long and probably rambling post!! thankyou for reading it and thanks in advance for any help and advice x
sandyhas3chucks
I broke my youngster last time just by keep taking her out of the run and shutting the door. When she was back in there I put the fan on her. it was while it was very hot too. I also did give her a cold bath which she did seem to enjoy. She was roosting on a high bar at night though even while broody This time I have got her some eggs and have just posted my newbie questions on the hatching section She is soo funny....
