Jenthelibrarian
I have had my two hens for six months now, and planned a 'proper' worming having used the Verm-X pellets before. One of the girls has just finished a course of antibiotics for some sort of chest infection and although she is much better she looks as if she feels like I do after an illness and antibiotics, ie a wee bit 'low' and not quite as greedy as usual, although she is enjoying being spoiled with little snacks and treats! My question: would it be OK to go ahead with worming [assuming we can get hold of some pellets + Flubenvet] or should we wait until she is clear of the antibiotics. We have been told not to eat her eggs for 28 days, but she hasn't laid for a few days anyway, no doubt because she's been poorly. We were thinking we'd get all this medication done and dusted, but I don't want to risk her being made ill again, also not sure that she'd eat her full ration of pellets at the moment... The Dogmother
I wouldn't worm her just yet, give them a couple of weeks to build up her strength - Life-Guard tonic is good for this and it contains probiotics which will help her gut after the antibs. See how she is in a fortnight and decide then whether to worm them.
