hobbit
Hi all, Well we had it lucky for the first 6 weeks of chicken keeping but hit our first hurdle today, one of the girls has diaorrhoea, not sure which one? 2 were laying although one seems to have stopped yesterday. Just let them all out for an hours free range & one of them did seem a bit quieter than normal, but I had thought she was the one that laid this morning? All 3 are hybrids sold as POL. Do you need any more info to advise? Shall I do something pro-actively now or just watch & wait? Thanks in advance for any help!
hobbit
Forgot to add, the one which was a bit quiet today seems to be holding one of her legs up a lot more than normal, but when she does walk on it she's not limping, not sure if this is related or relevant info? zakjon-98
Worms can cause diarrhoea so you could worm them all with flubenvet as a precaution. I also find that if they have eaten too many snails etc or have eaten too much s"Ooops, word censored!"s it can cause diarrhoea but doesn't last long so is not always a big issue. If you think she looks under the weather you could give her some tonic and watch her over the next couple of days to see if she looks like she is ill but it doesn't seem like it is anything major to worry about. good_egg
agree with zakjon - mine occassionally get a bit runny if they have had too much fun in the garden! I think orego-stim is meant to be good for an upset tum....
hobbit
Thanks for the advice. She was back on the nest box this afternoon when I popped out at 3ish. Just got back & they are all in bed, no egg in the box. I'll let you know how she gets on
