jackian
I am writing this on behalf of a friend who has 5 lovely chickens ,2 of them have just started laying and she was so looking forward to their eggs (as you do) but they taste horrid...musky and bitter. She has cut out all their treats and just feeding them fresh pellets and corn and they are still the same.15 eggs have gone in the bin.. I went to her house today for the first time to see the set up ...much better than mine and inside her run she has a jasmine bush which they have been stripping ..Is it possible this could be the answer Help please she has given me 2 eggs to try and I am about to dip my bread into the yolk when I get up the nerve

sjp
It could be the Jasmine I've read that strong tasteing plants and garden herbs can taint eggs mint and onions are 2 I've seen mentioned . if they are still tasting the same after a week or so of not eating the Jasmine I'd tell her to try a new brand of feed. I'd also try the eggs for yourself
jackian
I have tried one of her lovely blue looking eggs and it tastes musky with an after taste .I think she is cutting down the jasmine
