bluekarin
Does anyone know of a gas supplier who has no standing charge? We are with Eon but they have just informed us they will be charging us a standing charge per month. The thing is we don't use any gas (boiler went a few years ago, and we can't afford to replace it) so do not want to pay £100 a year for something we don't use. We were hoping it could have a temporary cap on it so when in the future we want to use it, the cap could be removed and we could start using it again. Seems this is impossible The only thing they will do is rip the entire gas meter out and block up the connection pipe. Slightly drastic we feel, but there you go. WitchHazel
Perhaps using a comparison website would help... you have to input your consumption, which you would put in as 0. This one is recommended by MOneySavingExpert http://www.energyhelpline.com/energy/rg_home.aspx?aid=107 If you do switch, remember to check Quidco first as you may be able to get cashback or a signing bonus. Hope that helps EDITED TO ADD: I've just use that myself and one of the options is to search for tarrifs with no standing charges.
