taffeta
I went to collect eggs this morning and found some poo in the nesting box covered in what looked like blood, or some sort of red stuff. Both girls seem fine and are eating well and I can' t see any blood on either of them. Does anyone have any idea what it is or think I should do anything? Ain't Nobody Here
Might be worth worming them if you haven't already? Flubenvet is the best wormer to use.
mimi5
Hi you don't say how old your hens are, but young hens sometimes shead gut linning in with their poo and it looks orangey red. My youngsters where doing this in the summer and I got a bit freaked out by it. If it is gut linning that's apparently normal. Worming is a good idea if you haven't in a few months. The only recognised wormer for chickens is Flubenvent. Maybe it's a bit gross, but post a pic?? Many experienced eyes to help here!!
taffeta
thanks but they were wormed last month so I don' t think that's the problem. They both seem quite happy and perky. They are nearly 3 now so can rule out it being the gut lining. I was worried it was the start of a prolapse but they both laid this morning. I''ll just keep an eye on them. Thanks for your responses though.
