Are they in shock?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I've had 2 ex batts, and a spekledy hen since Summer 2011. On the 23rd Dec, we had the horrible experience that so many others have had of a fox getting one of my hens (the spekledy) - he must have been really quick - in, grab and out as there were no feathers etc (but we saw him running down the road with her). The other 2 were running round the garden squawking, and quite unsettled but seemed unharmed.

However since then, neither have laid a single egg - they were slowing down anyway, as you'd expect from ex batts, but we were getting 3-5 eggs a week between them so wouldn't expect none for age only. Could they be in shock? Is there anything I can do to help them feel OK?, I can't see any signs of stuck eggs, they are eating (though not as much as they did - but maybe spekledy was the greedy one!), seem happy enough when they are out in the garden (though are spending more time in their run as I don't want them to FR unsupervised anymore), they've had poultry spice, some corn and cider vinegar since then.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance
