Orange juicer

Recommended Posts

We've always used one of the old fashioned glass orange juicers, but on holiday I used one of those large metal squeezers which sit on a tabletop. You put half an orange on the spike-thing and pull a lever/arm towards you to exert pressure and squish all available juice out of the poor defenceless orange or other citrus

It worked like a dream. I've looked them up and the cheapest seems to be £25, with about £50 for a mid-range one. I know its a lot of money but I do fancy getting one as we have access to a lot of cheap citrus fruit. Does anybody have any top tips/things to avoid/recommendations?

I know a friend used to have one of the metal lever ones and loved it. Top tip clean it straight after using it, do not let it sit and go sticky!!

My husband bought me a posh magimix juicer for Christmas which is great. I was spending £4.99 for a litre of the proper fresh orange juice from the machine in the supermarket. Asda do a bag of oranges for £2 which does about 1.5 litres.
