we have recently lost two of our old girls and were looking to replace with two youngsters. Have successfully managed various introductions over the years, always adding two pol to our existing two. I have just been offered two older hens by a friend who is giving up chicken keeping, do you think they would manage to sort themselves out and live happily with our other ladies?

Well, they are on their way here as I type, I'm really excited as previously we've only ever had one type of hybrid, and these are apparently a Rhode Island Red and a Sussex. Wish me luck with the intro's!

Yes but you need to introduce them slowly. There are lots of posts on the boards about the best way to do it.

Never had such an easy intro - all girls sleeping, eating and free ranging together! New girls already run down the garden when they see me and let me pick them up, they are obviously used to lots of cuddles! Am so excited to have been able to put a white chicken on my signature!

Great that your intro went so well! I'd love to get a few more girls ( don't tell OH) but the prospect of the intor has always made me a bit cautious. Glad you were successful!
