counturchickens
Our food processor has packed in. We only use it for making breadcrumbs, herb butter (blending butter and herbs) and chopping chillis and peppers when we make chilli jam. Would one of those blenders advertised for smoothies and stuff do the job, or do we need another processor. It just seems a waste to have the big bit of kit and all the attachments which never get used. What does everyone think?
redbug
I have a stick blender which is great. It came with a small and tall pot/bowl great for chopping chillies and Bread. I can use the stick blender to put in cooked veg and make blended soup and it only need a swill under the tap. Fits easily in draw/cupboard. Olly
The stick blender is great for smoothies, soups etc that you want to make into a puree, but it won't 'chop' as such and I'm not sure if it would do breadcrumbs. How about a mini-chopper like this? My food processor is 26 years old and on its last legs, and I've just got one of these (actually intended as a present for someone, but then not required) - the only thing I can see that my big food processor would do and this won't do, is grate cheese. chickencam
We have just bought the Lidl electric mini chopper and intend to GED rid of all of the other chopper bowls etc that came with our first stick blender. I use the stick blender to make smoothies, soups and it does do bread crumbs very well so long as you have a deep roomy jug because I can spit the crumbs out and make a bit of a mess otherwise. Olly
That's really useful to know, it never occurred to me to try making breadcrumbs with the stick blender! Thanks
