Brinsea mini auto

Recommended Posts

Hi knowledgeable peoples, just got a 2nd hand Brinsea mini auto turn and am wondering which way up the turning disk goes? Smooth side or side with the dividing lines upwards? Also can I use the small 12 hole egg disk for bantams or will they be better in the 7 hole hen/duck sized one?

Thank you very much.

Hi daxigirl

I have a brinsea mini auto if you need any other advice I can dig out the instructions. I have only used it once as my little bantam decided to go broody and she hatched out my last lot.

Are you wanting to use the 12 hole disk as you want to get more eggs in? I used the 7 hole one for mine (admittedly my eggs aren't teeny tiny but they are laid by bantams) and theres an adjustment you can make to how much the machine rolls them depending on their size. I can't remember off the top of my head but if you need more info I can have a look at the instructions and find out.

Hope it works out for you, my hatch with the brinsea mini Went well, I had 7 eggs in, 1 wasn't fertile and the rest hatched (4 girls and 2 boys) Although i did struggle to get the humidy up to start with and had to put some wet tissue in to help (but that may have been me faffing about as it was my first hatch) plus I did the naughty thing of helping a chick out - the humidity issue had it stuck!

Anyway good luck

Kirstie

Just wondering about the disks really. The lady I bought it from had used it for Love Birds.

Evil Edna has gone broody so have bought a box of OEG and given her a couple to sit on, she's moved into the catbox in the lounge with the same set up as Thora Bird last year so fingers crossed. As there was 4 left I've popped them into the Brinsea on the 7 egg disk. Costa was kind of broody but having moved her into an indoor cage yesterday she's decided that perhaps she's not after all, so I moved her back to the Bantie Kingdom this morning.

It's rather a chaotic power struggle in there with Edna out of the picture, Twitter is taking charge with a vengence, total shock I had no idea she had it in her, she's normally in her own little world. Worzel, who is still getting acquainted with his tribe is rather intimidated at the moment but I'm sure he'll get there just the same as he did in finding his voice  .

Nearly all of my bantams have hatched on day 21 apart from a couple of odd occassions

Daxigirl - I would candle all eggs at day 6 then to see ho many are fertile then stick them all under the broody (or keep them separate then stick them all under the broody on day 20)

:lol: That's really funny Redwing, she's only a diddy dot (you met her last year at Surry Show, are you going again, schedule's out) I don't think her backside would cover more than the 3 she's got bless her. Will adjust accordingly after candling though if necessary.
