Ducklings update

Recommended Posts

hi everyone , my minature appleyard ducklings are now 3 weeks old and growing fast , the mother (duck) seems to be seperating herself alittle from the duckling in the run she is laying away from them ( i dont kniow if this is normal) but will still protect them if you try and pick them up . I did try to sex them today and i think all 9 are females but as i am a novice at this i maybe wrong. I would love to put some photos on the forum but i have been unable to do this and i dont know how to do it.

Can anyone tell me when can they be taken away from mum .

many thanks

Mine stay with their mum for about 8 weeks or if im keeping them I just introduce the whole lot back to the other ducks at 16 weeks if I have a drake and I cant help with pics as after being on here for a few years I still don't know how to do it  leanne :)

Oh I'm so envious of anyone with ducklings. They are so pretty. Even prettier, I think, than chicks, but I haven't managed to persuade OH to allow ducklings to grow up on the patio yet, which would be necssary to keep them away from my cockerel and his girls :( OH doesn't like the idea of eating his lunch surrounded by duck poo
