help, liquid coming out of crop (not beak)

Recommended Posts

Hello there, we have only recently replaced our chickens after a Fox attack last November and one of them has had an impacted crop which we have dealing with in the usual ways, she now has sour crop which we have tried lots of things to solve. Yesterday I emptied her crop and she picked up a little and drank lots and had a bit of food. Today I gently squeezed her crop to see how big it was and liquid started coming out of her crop. It was defiantly not coming from her beak and it continued to drip out as she walked round a bit, she is not really interested in food today. What can I do, she is only about 27 weeks :-(

find the hole and clean it with either hibiscrub or salt water.

keep it clean, don,t let her eat whole grains until it is healed up. pellets or crumb would be fine.

If she appears unwell get her some anti biotics as it will mean it is infected..

It might take about 8 weeks to heal depending on the size of it.

I rehomed a bullied girl way back, turned out not just the other hens, their dog had clearly had her by her throat but on examination at the vet the hole through into her neck was a puncture and was seriously infected and foul...

however a rop operation kept clean can heal ever so fast....
