Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before but what do other Eglu users put in their Eglus on the roosting bars? We only received our birds yesterday and haven't put anything on the bars, only straw in the nesting box.

It seems a bit sp"Ooops, word censored!" but our thoughts were that the straw or woodchips would just fall into the poop tray, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You don't need to put anything on the bars, but you can put some newspaper or similar stuff on the droppings tray, to make it easier to clean. This is what I do as it means I don't have to clean it as thoroughly. However I do s"Ooops, word censored!"e the bars clean every morning to get rid of the poo, as when I do clean the bars it makes my job easier!

Hope that helps.

Chooks need the bars for roosting on at night. I think they are like most birds in that when they fall asleep their toe that faces backwards locks around the branch/roosting bar they are perched on so that they don't fall off in their sleep. (I think that's it anyway)
