AlisonH
Got home yesterday and Charlie looked very forlorn. Let both the girls out to FR but still Charlie didn't look happy, she just stood spaced-out and not at all herself. Checked on her later and she was sat in coop, mouth open panting. Had read somewhere that giving ice would help to cool chickens down so, armed with ice cubes and hammer, went into garden and smashed it up. She wolfed it down in seconds and BINGO within minutes was as right as rain! Just thought I'd share it with others if your chooks are hating this heat too. gavclojak
Thats funny i was just going to bob some frozen pea's in water for them to pick at, tried chopped grapes yesterday and they loved that, i also put a frozen bottle of water in the nest box to help cool things down a little....not sure if it helped but the nest box does get mighty warm!
