the-marks
Hi all Since the hot weather my 3 girls have virtually stopped laying. Has anyone else experienced this with theirs? I initially noticed they had slowed down a few weeks ago. Also noticing runny droppings I wormed them. There hasn't been any change in egg production since worming them. Just wondering if its the heat affecting them or if I need to do another week of worming - as their droppings are sill quite runny. Has anyone any thoughts? Thanks, Mark. gavclojak
Hi there I posted last week with the exact same question, yes my girls are not laying as much, usually between 3-5 a day but have been getting 2-3 at best and a few soft shell's too. The consensus was its normal in the heat
Hayleybug
yes by all accounts because it takes such a lot of water to produce an egg, they tend to stop in hot weather. i had been getting the odd one here and there (tho i think that might have been my recently departed lovely Lola ) i suppose it's a natural reaction though, as chicks wouldnt survive particularly well in this heat so maybe the chickens system just stops for a bit.
