gavclojak
Today is Friday and in my house that means free-range Friday, well everyday is turning into Friday! It's when the girls get to come out of there lovely enclosure into my part of the garden, much to the aggravation of my two Brussels griffons. Well today the girls have uncovered an ants nest...the glee is evident as they are having a feast on the fast moving( not fast enough though) snack:)
Lulabellx1
Lucky girls! We had an ants nest that was sending our all their flyers the other week. I purposefully let the girls at 'em! LOL. They also get all the slugs and snails of my runner beans
redsunset
Ah I guessed the breed as griffons1 As for ants don't have them but seem to have a plague of earwigs this year, do hens not eat them as even while removing the sides of their houses for cleaning they seem to be in droves along the seems!! They are under every flower pot and even appearing in my house, even had 3 in my bedding in the last two wks??
gavclojak
You did good with the griffons, I get stopped everyday by someone or another asking what breed they are, people have guessed, border terrier, pug, puppy boxer.... they are so cute, they potter around on free- range Friday with the girls and although I have has the boys 5 years they don't mind sharing my attention with the five divas. As for earwigs... Ye gods they are satan in disguise, I cannot see why they exist on the same earth as me....disgusting....those and maggots...ewwwe
redsunset
They are gorgeous, I have two as well, a bichon and a lhasa and both fine with the chooks. Confined to barracks until fence is done though as lil bichon found a teeny gap in the undergrowth in the old stock fencing and the lhasa watched and followed and they both went walkies up the road without my knowledge! Leads only and then they can run around once new fence is done as it will be impenetrable even for them! As for the earwigs guess I just have to put up with them as will use no chemicals in the garden, so will only hope chooks develop a taste for them until it gets to cold (which up here won't be to long)..... gavclojak
I read somewhere that the girls won't eat earwigs because earwigs eat redmite, so apparently all the time you have earwigs you should not get the red peril. What are we like with our boys/girls? My OH says he is slipping further down the pecking order after,3 kids 2dogs 5 chickens and a posh car:))) bless x
