Janet G
Our old hen is gasping for breath & comb turning purplish, no nasal discharge & crop feels empty. She's trying to breathe through her mouth then like a cough / squawk every few breaths. Eyes are bright, but she looks like she's going downhill. I don't think it looks like gape worm, I can't see anything, but would I anyway? She was fine earlier this afternoon, even laying the occasional egg despite being over 6. Is there anything we can do for her - this being a Sat night, so unlikely to get a vet? Any help would be much appreciated. Janet
Plum
Oh dear, sounds like one of mine who had a perforated windpipe and she was put to sleep. It does sound like an obstruction. I really don't know what you can do except keep her in a quiet dark place until you can get to a vet in the morning to reduce shock.
