Just a quick question, we have had our chickens for over a week now and this is our first time owning chickens so still learning. What I wanted to know is how long will it be till we get eggs daily?. Our lovely girls have laid 2 eggs each so far but with 2-3 day gaps in between. Im sure it depends on the chickens but I was thinking the eggs are slow coming as they are only just starting to lay?

 

Any advice would be very welcome!

From memory, it should only be a week or so before they get going properly. The eggs will get bigger too .

I cant wait. The eggs we have had so far haven't been tiny so be interesting to see how big they get. We also had a soft shelled egg the other day which was a big surprise!

You may get the occasional wonky one (or even double yolker ) as they're getting into the swing of laying .

I am presuming that you got point of lay hens not ex battery hens. POL will take a couple of weeks to start laying regularly from the first egg and as ANH said the eggs will gradually get bigger too. If you have ex bats they may well take a break from laying over the winter whilst they moult and regrow new feathers.
