Chicken bald back

Thought we'd give the chickens the pumpkin we'd hollowed out yesterday... Popped it into the run while they were free-ranging, and then wondered what the racket was when it was getting dusky. Chickens were trying to roost on the garden furniture, and just refused to go back into the run. They were clearly completely freaked out by the pumpkin.

 

Even after I'd taken it out I had to pick Feathers up and put her in the run. They were still telling me off as they toddled up into the coop.

 

Won't try that again...

I could almost hear them yelling 'There's a big orange sphere in our house. There's a big orange sphere in our house.'

 

Or maybe I'm going too far with my interpretations...
