mollyripkim
Have narrowed down the choice to brinsea octagon, there is a £47 price difference between the one that has digital humidity and temp so my question is how necessary/important is it - this will be my first time hatching so want to get it right. They both have auto turn. Thoughts/experience appreciated, thankyou.
ZoPekin
Hi, I have just hatched my very first lot of chicks 100% hatch 9/9 . I have a very basic incubator, Just has a turner on top for temp and water containers. I bought a digital temp/ Humidity gauge from ebay for £3.60 and had it in there the whole time of incubating. Temp is the most important thing... I would have the machine running for 2-3 days before setting the eggs to make sure the temp is right 37.5. With humidity i find everyone has there own way of doing it. Myself i only add a very little amount of water 20%-25% humidity for the first 18 days then i up it to 65% 19-21 days. This work for me... If you want it all built in then go for that one.. but if you happy to use a different gauge then save some money... I hope this helps x
mollyripkim
Thank you so much, yes that really does help, no point spending more than I have to. Congratulations on your hatching, it's very exciting.
