Lash?

Recommended Posts

Poor old Brownie has been under the weather for a while now, just as I was about to panic she had a major moult, phew!

however, she hasnt really been herself since, passed a couple of lashes two weeks ago, and then last week seemed poorly again (hunched, pale, tail down) after much research I wonder if there is another lash stuck? i gave her a warm bath and some veg oil yesterday (we were out of olive, figured anything better than nothing!) She seems brighter today, but tail is still down.

does anyone have any ideas as to what else it might be/i can do? she has been wormed and crop is not impacted or sour

thanks

xx

My chickens permanently confuse me!!

She passed two lashes previously, and following her bath and oil yesterday has passed another small one today, definitely a lash, I had a good look

Yes, wormed with flubenvet (have come unstuck using vermex before!)

Pretty confident not egg bound

She seems a little happier now, so I'll keep you posted

I don't like to be pessimistic but when one of our hybrids reached around 2.5 yrs she stopped laying properly and started to pass lashes quite regularly and got less and less 'well' and was just not her usual self. In the end we took her to the vet who diagnosed peritonitis - it seems her insides were literally just dissolving - so we took the decision and had her PTS. We felt guilty as although she'd seemed poorly we didn't realise quite how uncomfortable - and indeed ill - she really was. Chickens are so good at hiding this. Hope your own chook gets much better but it might be worth getting her checked if the lashes continue.
