sarah corkish-brown
My girl has started laying eggs without shells and the shells are left hanging out of her, they are soft and gritty. I have today managed to catch her, pull out the offending shell and wash her down with warm water. But, she is still pulsing at the rear and looking a wee bit dazed? Help! Beantree
How old is your girl Sarah and what breed? They generally lay soft shelled eggs at the start or end of their laying. It can also occur with a shock when an egg is laid too early. Diet, particularly Calcium levels, can affect shell quality. So can a worm burden.
