Advice please for feeding ducklings

Recommended Posts

We have had a broody hen sitting on 2 duck eggs which have successfully hatched overnight  I have unmediated chick crumb ready but have read that ducklings have a higher niacin requirement and that a powder supplement should be added. Is this safe for the broody hen too?

We have successfully raised ducklings once before under a hen and if I remember correctly we only used chick crumb but now I am a little worried as I want to get it absolutely right....

Also at what stage do people tend to introduce ducklings to shallow water? I remember that this is a slow process but again my memory fails me!!

Thank you in advance

They will be fine on just chickcrumbs ive just hatched ducklings and goslings and they only had chickcrumb for 2 weeks and are now on layers I had to do it this way as I have to keep the protein level down so the goslings don't get angel wing and they are fine as they don't eat much food anyway as mine are freeranging and filling up with grass mostly leanne :)
