Dolly
I was so sorry to hear about Merryweather, she looked such a sweet little thing but at least she drifted off in a lovely place knowing someone loved her.
gavclojak
Thanks dolly. I was so moved earlier...little flora had her first dust bath, she is having a lovely time, flapping and digging and now she is covered in dust....exciting times ahead little ones
PickleHen
I am so sorry to hear this. My husband thinks it hilarious that I race home to see ours rather than to them rather than him! I think I may have adopted some of the sisters to your lot on Sunday from Bishops Storford. This is my first time raising chickens, let alone rehoming ex-commercial hens and I have to say every day has been something new for us all! Of our three; the smaller of the trio is definitely the out-layer the other two won't allow her anywhere near the food or water options. I am spending my evening out with her alone in the run snacking so I can ensure that she has had something to eat whist I consume a large glass of red. She has definitely lost weight and her comb is looking rather unhealthy. I guess like anyone, all I can do is my best and hope the others (that I am equally as fond of) back off! We have had 7 edible eggs since Sunday (and an additional one with paper thin shell that they attacked before I had the chance to collect) so I am guessing they are not too distraught! Looking forward to sharing notes and I apologise in advance for the many questions that are likely to follow from this Hen Mum
gavclojak
Ah I think you do have some of their sisters, they came from a colony unit in Sherwood. I have a really gobby lady too, she has been tres noisy today, I hope it settles down otherwise my neighbours are going to be vexed I would add more food containers if I were you so she can access one while the others guard them, if she has lost weight try her with some mealworms or tuna, maybe some cat food too, high in protein..
