I belong to the local church craft club and we are due to meet next Wednesday (Ash Wednesday) and I normally take a cake along to our meetings and they have asked me to come up with something in keeping with Lent . To make it trickier one of the ladies can't have chocolate . ......any bright ideas? The cake will either have to be made the day before or first thing in the morning as we meet at 1030am. Lavenders_Blue Posted February 11, 2015 Share Posted February 11, 2015 Hmmmm, I'm sure others will have more creative ideas than me, but as lent is traditionally a period of fasting and simple food why not just make a simple cake? Something without oodles of buttercream, icing etc. Aren't rich fats usually given up for lent? How about an olive oil cake? (I know it's still fat, but not as luxurious as butter).
