Luvachicken
The other day I noticed Lucie had a dark circle all around one eye. When I looked closer it looked like dirt around the edge of all of her eye - but only one eye. She has had a bit of a cold but I thought that seemed better with some nutridrops and Lifeguard tonic. I saw her once more during the week with the eye liner again. Then today she had it again. At first I thought it was where she had been pecking apple and got a juicy face which the dirt stuck to, but now I'm not so sure, as they haven't had apple all the time. What do you think it could be? Should I take her to the vets ? Her eye is fine otherwise. I can't see any discharge and when I hold her close I cannot hear any rattles in her chest. None of the others manage to make a dirt circle round their eyes
Beantree
Well if you saw the state of some of ours at the moment Luvachicken, you wouldn't be worried at all. So long as there is nothing in her eye, so no discharge and fully open, she will be fine I think. We had an incident with cherry juice once. All the hens combs and wattles turned black overnight which I mis-diagnosed as the fatal disease Blackhead (after internet research). The vet was called and then I decided to wash a few mucky heads and realised my mistake!
Luvachicken
Thanks Beantree It does just look like a panda with a really black outer eye line. I'm sure it is just dirt too but I will keep an eye on it anyway.
