mrsatroy
I was cleaning the nest box out yesterday where my ex-batts sleep and there was a big lump of tissue like substance. Initially my though was someone has pooped their insides out - but after checking online it would appear that it is a lash. All the girls seem fine and are eating/drinking. Do I need to do anything or watch for anything when this happens?? I have lost 3 girls over the past few months and would hate to lose one of my funny, nosy ex-batts. Ain't Nobody Here
Lashes are fairly common and don't generally indicate a problem .
gavclojak
Yep I agree, I have had a few lashes, I'm sure it's shedding of the oviduct lining? I will be corrected if wrong. Not had any problems after they have been laid, I only have ex commercial hens so not sure if it's as common in posh girls....I suspect not
mrsatroy
That's a relief to hear. I was worried when I saw it. I spent a half hour going round trying to look at the girls vents to see if they seemed messy or dirty. If anyone had seen me they would have called the men in the white coats.
