Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

I am having a conifer and maple taken out of my garden tomorrow, the man who is doing it can turn the trees into wood chip for me. But is conifer ok for hens???????

if it's dead i.e. no greenery on it then it could pass as run bedding but if it's still living then I'd not use it as it goes musty and mouldy very quickly this time of year it also get quite hot if it's in a pile as do any chipped trees that have green leaves on them perfect for the compost heap but probably not for chickens
