At what age do chickens stop laying???

Recommended Posts

gosh, they are doing well! Hybrid chickens generally start to slow down at 18 months to 2 years, and that is why chicken farms generally get rid of them after around a year because they are no longer laying at full production. In a domestic setting however they will go on for a while and pure breed hens tend to lay a bit less often but live longer so they will carry on. I had a Speckledy which lived to 8 or so and she was still popping out the occasional egg until the last six months. Your hens are obviously very healthy and long-lived!
