Don't get me wrong, I love watching them in the countryside, but I am cross at Joanna Lumley's comment in the press today.... Ill informed, and will encourage the urbanisation of foxes.

 

She says that 'they won't eat chickens in towns because there aren't any'; what about urban chicken keepers? She goes on to say that if you don't feed them, they will get mange.. Errr no; mange is a skin disease caused by mites, not by malnutrition. It is also transmittable to dogs and humans.

 

I do wish that people wouldn't interfere with the natural balance of nature by encouraging them into urban environments. By letting them into her home, she is causing them to lose their natural wariness of humans, which isn't necessarily a good thing.
