clucker1 Posted July 26, 2015 Share Posted July 26, 2015 I thought I had solved the chickens feather pecking. Our recentlyish deceased "Custard" started it I think but has led to some of the others feather pecking each other's backs and bottoms. I've had about 5 days of no pecking then today they seem to be back to it. Also we are going away soon for 2 weeks so the chickens won't be free ranging then. I've increased their calcium levels with baked egg shells and cod liver oil. They have been free ranging a few hours each day, not sure what else to do. They also have grit available to them and are fed layers pellets. The pecking seems to happen at night, most of them are sleeping outside of the cube at the moment.
