GrannyTrish
I just noticed through the kitchen window that Doris was sitting in an unusual position so I went out to have a look at her. She had just deposited albumin on the grass. I've already consulted vet Google and one article said it could be because of hot weather, and it has been very hot and humid today. But other articles said it could be that she's egg bound which has got me worried. Of course, it would happen after 9pm and when we're leaving home at 7am tomorrow and will be away all day. If it comes to it I won't go with DH tomorrow and will take her to our vet. Advice welcome! Worried hen mummy.
GrannyTrish
While I was writing this she must have laid the yolk. When I went back out both Doris and Connie were pecking at the same area and they had yolk on their feet. I've had a look and feel at Doris' vent and although it's wet with what I presume is the albumin, it feels okay. She's walking and pooping fine and I saw her drinking throughout the day and pecking at grass and some corn, although when I think about it she didn't eat as much as the other two. When I picked her up she just snuggled into me. We've only had them four months and they've wormed their way into our hearts. I'd be devasted if there was something seriously wrong with her.
