Free Range and organic outsells eggs from caged birds!!!

Recommended Posts

Since I decided I wanted to keep some hens of my own and since regsistering with this forum I have had my eyes well and truly opened. We always buy free range and have not bought battery eggs for donkeys years. The difference in prices is minimal. As far as I am concerned an egg even at the top end pricing is darn good value. I thought most people avoided battery produced egg these days. But do you know, I never gave the hidden battery egg a thought. What the manufacturers and food outlets used hadn't even crossed my thoughtless mind.

It's you guys and the BH charity that have brought this problem into focus for me. Going through my fridge and freezer yesterday evening I was amazed at how many things might include battery eggs.

Well it's a whole new me today - out goes the Hellmans and other guilty food crimes. I shall make my own mayo's and salad dressings from now on. I make my own cakes and sauces anyway.

What else can I do - what other steps can I do to eradicate the battery egg from my unwitting larder?
