tanya0606
Eglu arrived 3 days early. We are in Lincoln, out of the chicken delivery area but are struggling to find chickens in our area. All the breeders on the Omlet literature are not answering their phones. Does anyone know any decent breeders near to Lincoln or upto an hour away. Really want some chooks asap.............. eggstatic
You could try the One Stop Chicken Shop at Belton near Grantham. Tel 01476 566057. They are open Wed, Thurs, Fri and Sat 10 to 5. I am sure they will answer the phone at other times, perhaps you have just been unlucky on previous attempts. We have bought 3 chickens from them now and been very happy with their performances. They also supply a variety of breeds and chicken keeping paraphernalia and offer advice. My advice is dispense with the Omlet grub feeder because the chickens throw their unwanted feed everywhere, instead buy a conventional chicken feeder with a roof on it as supplied by One Stop. Tony
I'm in North Peterborough just on the Lincs border. I got my birds from S&T Poultry in the Omlet list. When I phoned they were going out but left a selection of birds in a cage for me to choose from should I want any of them... Silly move really, I couldn't choose so I had them all and left the money under the seat of his fork lift truck. Went back next day and bought two ducks. Two of them started laying within a week. He also gave me three trays, 7.5 dozen, free range eggs when I went back for the ducks. It's right out in the wilds and not Wisbeach itself. It's a pretty tatty looking place but all the birds free range, are all vaccinated and are all in excellent condition and well cared for. You can see from my photo's the condition of the birds I had off him and I'd go back to him should I want any more. I should think you could do Lincoln to Wisbeach St Mary in close to an hour. Hope that helps.
Richard
Hi I know a really nice breeder over the border in Norfolk (nr Fakenham). Its about 2 and a half hours from Lincoln. She does pure breeds - Orpingtons, Marans, North Holland Blues, Silver Dorkings (they are lovely - I really really need some!), Cochins, Jersey Giants (fantastic birds) and others.
