Mrs Frugal
If anyone is suddenly receiving lots of e-mail notifications for topics since the change of server, please let me know and I can stop them for you. Some people have been affected while others haven't so I need to know who's having problems. Thanks. Bear with us on this - hopefully things will be back to normal on the forum soon once the gremlin's been evicted!
ali-s
Please stop mine. 8 yesterday and loads today. Thought I had suddenly become very popular. I have had to switch off the volume on the computer to stop the silly female voice saying "you have email". She was getting on my nerves. My profile says "no" to the email notification but they ae still being sent. Thanks Kate
Mrs Frugal
Yours says no now Ali because I've turned it off. I replied in the other topic you'd posted in to tell you that I'd sorted the problem for you. The button had been clicked to yes when I looked so I knew something had gone wrong. Mrs Frugal
Let me know if it continues Ali. Mel's just posted to say that it was still happening and the button had got clicked again in her profile. It must revert when you log out or something. I'll do my best to keep on top of this but with James away for a week, I'm very much on my own so please bear with me everyone. Do let me know of any problems though - I can cope! Mrs Frugal
The pants can cope, don't know if I can if it carries on though !
Mrs Frugal
By the way, you're not the only ones getting e-mail notifications! I've clicked to be notified of replies on these log in problem topics and my box is full!!
Mel (& Paul)
oh poor you!! Hope that the gremlins do sort themselves out soon, otherwise you'll be exhausted before Christmas
ali-s
4 more now. Don't worry Kate, I will just keep the volume turned off and delete any that arrive until James returns. You are busy enough normally without this extra work. Do you think James knew problems would happen and decided to take a few days off? Another 2 I've never had so many emails, usually I check my inbox and it is empty. Alison no mates me.
Mel (& Paul)
I think James has scurried away unable to cope with the difficulties of the forum - coward
ali-s
Now I have got 9 A long way to cach up with my 14 year old son, who has 153 emails waiting in his inbox. I don't know that many people.
Mrs Frugal
Right, Ali, I think I've cracked it but you need to do something. In the posting box, everytime you post anything, you'll see some things underneath the bit you type in. One of them says Notify Me When A Reply Is Posted. I've noticed that it's ticked in your replies. You need to make sure that it's turned off if you post anywhere. It's definitely off in your profile. I've just checked that. I'll find all your postings and see if I can turn it off in all of those but it's going to take a long time as Mel's having the same problem. I'll get started. Mel (& Paul)
Dont worry about me Kate, I'll cope (stoical smile ) I will just make sure that from now on I un-tick the box (or something like that anyway)
Mrs Frugal
Just checked through your latest postings and it looks like the notify me button is clicked off in all of them . This might change when you log out and come back again so be prepared. I'll try to keep on top of it for you Ali.
ali-s
oh I see. I have been waiting for the emails to appear, seeing which one it is and then going to my replies, clicking on edit and then clicking the notification box . seems to be working at the moment. Don't fancy trawling through the 164 pages of the word association page though.
Mrs Frugal
Should be OK if you've clicked one of them off Ali. YOu shouldn't have to go through all of the word association game !
Mrs Frugal
Is anyone still getting the e-mail topic notifications or is everything OK now??
ali-s
Yep, me. Not as many now thank goodness. Clicking the notification button does not always stop it, so I have to go into that thread and post a reply with the notification button off. Does that make sense? Anyway as long as no one resurects any old threads from way back I will soon be on top of it.
Mrs Frugal
It should calm down hopefully, ali. It's switched off in your profile still so fingers crossed. Sorry about the messages you're still getting. I don't know what else to do to stop them though.
buffie
I am now getting muliple responses to the same message kate , is that what you mean BBx
Mrs Frugal
Yes, Buffie. I'll go into admin and check your profile's not got that selected which should stop them coming. If you spot which topics you're being notified for and edit the latest posting of yours, you'll see there's a little box near the bottom which says "Notify me when a reply is posted". If that's ticked, click it so it's not ticked.
ali-s
Thats what was happening to me Buffie. Loads of notifications for the same thread everytime someone posted a reply. The only way I could stop them was to post a reply on that thread makng sure the "notify me when a reply is posted" box did not have a tick in it before I submitted my post. It took a feww days to get them all sorted and I am still getting one or two a day now. In fact off to post in the receipe and welcome bit now. Just posting a full stop or 1 letter will do it.
