lost-sheep
we have a new white star who came to us with a clipped beak.... .... even tho her beak is clipped she still manages to pull out feathers and eat them .... obviously this can't continue so we have fitted her with an anti pecking bit.... ....problem is her beak is really open compared to the beaks of the others (who haven't got clipped beaks) when they wore them and we are worried that she will starve... ...i don't think starvation is a justifyable punishment for plucking

The Pearsons
I would leave the anti peck thing on (is it a ring or a bumper bit?) then offer her some treats. You'll soon find out if she is eating or not that way. If she doesn't eat take the anti-peck off but I think she will be eating okay. My Chips (aka Atilla) has a bumper bit and it woks great. Laura & CTB
Good advice from Helen. The peck rings look very restrictive when they're fitted but hens are quite canny when it comes to eating Try her with a handful of corn, wheat etc - bet she can manage just fine!!
