tommy64
is it o.k. for hens to get muddy feet/beaks?
Olly
Try stopping them! If they get very muddy, then it can dry out and stick to their claws in little balls. I was when Hilda came across the patio one day and I could hear her little hob-nailed boots clacking! I soaked her feet in warm water, which she wasn't keen on, but this enabled me to clean the mud off eventually - it dries rock-hard, although I must say she didn't seem bothered. If the run is turning into a bit of a quagmire, then I'd recommend putting hemcore/aubiose down - it will keep it dry underfoot.
theherd123
Yes so dont worry. As long as they have somewhere dry to go and they are not in mud all day long im sure they will be just fine
