Guest
we got our lime from the garden centre, make sure you get garden lime and not builders lime as the latter is poisonous, the former is just an alkali to sweeten the soil. We enquired about pet insurance when we got our girls and it would have cost £24 a month for the 4 of them, we ummed and ahhh'd and decided to put the £24 a month away in a savings account instead, just in case. I hope your little girl is going to be okay, you've done the right thing in taking her to the vets, let us know how she goes on, keeping everything x'd for you. tara
Well l have rung the vet my chook iss ready for collection. She had a xray and dye put in her they found a bacteria blockage which they said would have been caused by the damp as its been very wet lately.Shes on antibiotics and has to stay in for 24hrs.But she should be ok or tho they said if l lose her can they give her a postmorterm. So fingers crossed the vet said about lime on the ground but not to worry with any thing else.So as soon as the warmer weather comes all the better. Oh and its cost me £125.00 omg now l got to tell other half plus plus

Rona
Hope your girl is soon better now they have found out what the problem is. With regards to Stalosan F, this is where I got a big 25Kg bag from, http://www.regencypoultry.com/shoparea.asp?p=d8f8de5c-6d97-44f8-9adc-29064b34917e I raked a bit into the soil when I built their run before I spread hemcore and will probably do it again when I muck out and replace it. Sometimes I sprinkle it in the poop tray and around the eglu when I do a big clean. It smells a bit like germolene, makes you feel clean and healthy!
