Gallina
I tried mine with organic pellets, and they wouldn't touch them. I thought if I left them out for a few days they would start eating them, but they didn't, and I was afraid they would starve, so I gave up. Ain't Nobody Here
ANH where do you get your hemcore now? ive been getting mine at drum farm feeds and i went a fortnight ago and the cost and went up to £12- scary. That was where I was getting mine from but like you I was at £12. They're not stocking it any more now anyway so I'm going to try Easibed next. There a place in Dalkeith that does some chicken stuff - can't remember the name just now & need to go out now but I'll look it out when I get back! hellymisscloud
I've given up on the Organic Layers' Pellets for the moment (despite having an unopened 20kg bag). I've freecycled the end of the opened bag. I've bought Dodson & Horrells layers pellets to try on them (couldn't get mash) to see if they'll take to them. If they don't like this brand then I give up and they'll just have to eat them! My dad thinks we're mad....
laurmurf
Update on layers pellets for the Mac Six from laurmurf and hellymisscloud: Dodson and Horrells layers pellets are more popular than A&P organic but not by as much as we hoped. However.... We've now whizzed the pellets in the food processor, mixed in the usual garlic powder and bokashi bran and they ADORE it! this is the first day I've seen the girls actively return to the cube to eat the 'mash' from the grub while they're free ranging. We're relieved because we were anxious that they've been filling up on treats instead of getting a balanced diet: i mean to say, how much apple can one hen eat?! These girls certainly encourage a bit of lateral thinking....
