Janey new Posted July 17 Share Posted July 17 Hi can anyone suggest how I can stop my hens sleeping on top of their eglu please … it’s a go up which they have been in for several years now but have all decided they are sleeping on the top and not inside 🙈… I’ve put buckets of water on top to deter them but they just sleep around them … had some awful cold weather and rain storms but they still sleep on top 😟… not sure they will last through winter if this carries on … ps no redmites inside ! Beantree Posted July 18 Share Posted July 18 Something has sparked this behaviour. My first guess would be red mite, then dust and poor ventilation. Chickens can cope with cold well, but excessive heat can be fatal, so did they get too hot in there at some stage and now don't want to risk it again?
