Run Building Question

Recommended Posts

I've noticed that some of you with walk-in runs have just the eglu entrance in the run, with the rest outside for easy access. I would like to do this, but don't know how to secure the eglu so that a strong fox couldn't push the whole thing in through the hole. Any advice would be much appreciated. :?

Admittedly, we don't have a fox problem (lots of wood touching going on) but what I did was make the hole smaller than the front of the eglu, but still large enough for the eglu door to swing. I have also then placed large rocks around the Eglu on the outside and have also secured it with a large heavy duty bungee.

This means iis secured all around and can't be pushed into the run, or pulled away from it.

You can kind of see what I mean here

we also cut a smaller hole in the weld mesh just big enough to allow the door to open, we also used the piece of wire off the original run (in front of the door) to join the eglu to the new run, it attaches like the original run did to the eglu.

sorry that probably sounds complete pants, wish i could do the photo thing it would all become clear.
