Pinkybijou
I had a proper look at our chooks' wings today (with a view to clipping) and when I lifted Doris's wing up I noticed a few small feathers all stuck together with a clump of white dots, kind of like eggs of something, or maybe dandruff type stuff. What do you think? Is this mites? The clump I saw came away easily but I noticed a few other clusters under there. I've not had a chance to check Dora yet as she's still a bit flighty. Worried. Kris Doris, Welsummer Dora, Wyandotte both arrived three weeks ago tomorrow, and both happily freeloading too!
Snowy
I haven't seen them myself but it does sound like lice. Worth giving them both a good dusting of diatom and red mite powder anyway. I'm sure someone will be along soon with info on some stronger meds you could use.
chrisnrob
Hmmm - sounds like lice and/or lice eggs. Take a look at this FAQ as there's some photos in there that may help you with identification: http://club.omlet.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6949 Rob
