I've had 4 days of nonsense from Maisie . Two yolks with seperate papery baggy things, a perfectly formed egg but with no shell, and nothing at all today .

 

And this after 5 weeks without a day off (that's presumably why ).

my joy was short-lived - another softie from ruby today despite doing it all as we should - these chickens are so temperamental!

 

They haven't been laying that long and it does take some time for them to get their egg laying "tackle" into full swing. As long as they have been wormed, have some grit or limestone flour and are eating their pellets I'm sure they will settle down with time. I'm getting shell less eggs because mine are coming back into lay now after the winter off.

Spoke too soon - they've had another day off.

 

It has been very windy and they've been huddled in the Eglu looking miserable. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
