GEB
Gave my girls a tub of cress today as a treat. After they ignored their cabbage yesterday i was suprised to find they really like cress! So much so that they ate it all....plant, root soil the lot. Will the soil do them any harm and should i just cut the tops off for them next time? Guest
they'll be fine One of my girls had been digging for worms (which they swallow soil and all), her beak was covered in mud. She hopped up on the bench next to me, proceeded to wipe her beak back and forth on my trousers and then jumped off! Nice
Egluntyne
They will be fine....they love to peck around in dirt....in fact it is perfectly normal behaviour!. Builds up the immune system too.

I have to admit it always makes me smile when I've given them something a bit sticky, like banana or yogurt, and they have to keep wiping their beaks every few minutes
Laura & CTB
Mine love to eat soil when they get the chance- and thats usually in between re potting plants. Turns their poos black - well at least it shows up better on the decking
