Treekeeper
I saw an article in the Times this weekend about John Bowler's eggs and their franchise free range egg farms. I was interested in the info so went on their website to check it out, they won't even consider you unless you have 20 acres!! Just wondered if anyone else had tried it? clucky1
I must admit that I do like the idea of this. Good for the chooks to have all that space Although I think that the farmer whom owns the field next door to us would have something to say if I moved 250 chooks onto his field. Lesley
20 acres? - that does seem a bit extreme - we could have plenty of hens on our 8 acres
hilda-and-evadne
20 acres? - that does seem a bit extreme - we could have plenty of hens on our 8 acres The Big Issue seller outside our local Sainsbury tells me that back in Romania his mother had 70 chickens. I asked if she sold the eggs but he said that there were too many for her to collect (I guess that they were "free ranging" over a wide area). I was really interested in hearing more about all this but his English wasn't quite strong enough. I may try again.
