Phosphorus
Anyone used these people for chooks? Thanks Andrea
Phosphorus
No longer need a reply to this - have rung them and they don't have any POL chooks at the moment - no wonder they were updating their website Andrea

Phosphorus
We did go to Upsons when we first started thinking about chickens - mainly to see what chicken coops they could get (they are Littleacres stockists). They are really nice but they do only stock hybrids - really really nice people : let my two little ones go and collect eggs with them from their hens Andrea
OldGeorge
I contacted Barling earlier this week, we are intending to go there on saturday or sunday to pick up 4 hens.

Phosphorus
Ooh are you nearby - we can compare chooks I have a feeling in their email that they said that they had 2 year old battery hens - I might be wrong though
OldGeorge
The hens were collected from the battery only 3 weeks ago. they still have pale combs and quite a lot of feathers missing or damaged although there are signs of new feathers comming through. Stewart, from Barling Paoultry, is obviously "chicken mad" in the nicest possible way he is a complete gent and was only too keen to be helpful, it was a pleasure to meet him. We bought four of his hens, he checked them over for us and showed us what to look for and where to look to make sure your hens are in good health ( and as I'm a raw beginer this was just the help I needed ). Stewart went on to give us a wealth of tips and advice finally offering help in the future should we get stuck or be worried about anything. All in all I would recommend Barling Poultry. So we are all setup Four hens and an Eglu, can't wait for the first egg !
