hilda-and-evadne
I could extend the run a bit and I thought that two more hens would double the joy and entertainment that Hilda and Evadne provide. I'd like a hybrid that lays dark brown eggs and another that lays blue or green eggs (or one that lays white eggs), every day if possible. I might call them Miss Mapp and Lucia. ':)' Which breeds would the panel recommend, please?
Chili
I too am picking up 2 new hens next Sunday that seem to match your requirements. I am getting a Columbine that will hopefully lay blue/green eggs and a Sussex Noir that will lay dark brown eggs. Both are hybrids Chili xx
superjules
A columbine/skyline/jasmine has an 80% chance of laying a blue/green egg. The other 20% lay a range of pastel colours apparently. Maran cuivre lay quite dark eggs I believe. I had the same issue a couple of weeks ago, I was going to get a skyline and a maran cuivre for the different eggs, but decided to go for 2 skylines, so now I'll have to be really unlucky not to get some coloured eggs. hilda-and-evadne
I am getting a Columbine that will hopefully lay blue/green eggs and a Sussex Noir that will lay dark brown eggs. Cool - thanks - I will look for pictures of them and the nearest breeders (and, I hope, read here about your experience of them).
